ONE hansom, and two not quite so hansom, cabs outside St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Laman St, Newcastle, in the early 1890s. Newcastle had a number of horse-drawn cabs but only 32 hansom cabs.
* THE bottom photo shows an electric tram passing Newcastle post office in Hunter St on February 6, 1940. The paper boy has a Women's Weekly for sale with a picture of a soldier on the cover. The tram conductor is Mr Morgan Mitchell.
