TRAINER Robbie Heathcote is hopeful The Kildare Kid has rediscovered his winning desire and can upset Smart Chariot in the River 94.9 & Yellow Cabs Cup (1400m) at Eagle Farm today.

Eight months ago Heathcote was resigned to The Kildare Kid never racing again after he suffered serious tendon lacerations during a brilliant win in the Listed Tatt's Mile (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

``It was 50-50 for a while whether he'd ever race again," Heathcote said.

``Even after his first two runs back this campaign I was wondering whether he had lost the desire to win.

``I thought he'd improve a lot last run and he did and I couldn't be happier with him now."

Heathcote didn't hesitate to name Smart Chariot as the main threat.
